Past Activities and Projects

Take a look at our proudest activities and projects done in the past

Dance Dance Revolution

We built a DDR Machine to entertain people during the Harvest Festival that is held every October at Norco College. We were able to apply the different aspects in STEM to build it: design, coding, and manufacturing. We will constantly improve and repair our machine for future purposes so that it may help more people keep their smile.

RC Track

Our club decided to collaborate with the Norco College Veterans Club to create a Track for RC Cars. We used used-up tires as boundaries to create the dirt track, and maintained the track by getting rid of weeds. Led to more connection with students on the campus as well as neighboring high schoolers.

The Trebuchet

We built the trebuchet to entertain Norco College students during STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Week. We were able to explore science and technology in the medieval era and work on our engineering and mathematics skills. This project of ours will most definitely be reused for future STEM-related entertainment purposes in different events.

Solar-Powered
Charging Stations

During the Engineering Challenge, we built solar-powered charging stations for students who may want to charge their phones outside because we noticed that the charging stations located in the Library and the Corral are pretty far from some areas. One of the charging stations (top image, named Starling) was built to have students charge their phones while using them, and the other (bottom image) was built to provide a quick charging station for people who are in a rush and need their phones safely protected.

Online Tutoring Sessions

Although there is an amazing tutoring service available in the LRC, we noticed that not all STEM courses are covered there and they closed relatively early for many students. We decided to provide online tutoring sessions through Discord where students who previously rocked a STEM course are eligible to tutor another student for that course. Many students benefited greatly from this continuing activity.

The Math Competition

We hosted our very own Math Competition for the first time after the pandemic. The event went great, and we saw many creative and clever answers from Norco College Students. We hope to keep hosting this event at least annually.

Women In STEM

We hosted an event where we reached out to female professors from different branches of STEM to share their experiences in order to promote Women In STEM and encourage more females to join the STEM field. Shortly after, we saw a gradual increase in female members, and we’re proud that we hosted this event.
