Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a STEM major to join?
Not at all, we value diversity in STEM Club! We also believe that STEM has some kind of connection with all majors, and we are willing to explore that connection.
Are there different teams inside the STEM Club?
We do have officers for each part (like the science officer, technology officer, etc.); however, they aren’t necessarily different teams. When we work on activities and projects, we have members from different parts of STEM work together.
Can I be more than one part of STEM (like being a science officer and an engineering officer)?
Yes, you can! We simply assign different parts as ease for people who may have similar interests to reach out to each other.
Does STEM Club have meetings during the Summer and Winter Semesters?
The STEM Club does not have regular meetings during these short semesters, but there usually is an online leader’s meeting to improvise and plan ahead for the following Spring or Fall semesters.
Is the Rocketry Team part of the STEM Club?
The Rocketry Team used to be a part of the STEM Club, but because too much of the STEM Club funding went to building rockets, we agreed to separate them. However, many people in the Rocketry Team are also members of the STEM Club, so you can definitely join both.
How do I get online tutoring?
In our Discord server, there is a category labeled “Help”, and below there are different channels such as “math-help”, “physics-help”, and so on. Click on the channel that matches your subject, then message what your subject is (for example, Chem 1-b) and if anyone is willing to help you. A tutor on your subject will be able to help you soon!
How do I get a leadership role?
Every Fall Semester, we will have an anonymous vote poll if any leaders should be changed for the better of the STEM Club (voters must write reasons). If any leader(s) is voted to be changed by the majority, we will have an election to choose our next leader for that role. Additionally, leaders usually transfer each Fall Semester, so we may move on to the election without the anonymous voting as well. Become an active member, show that STEM Club needs a leader like you, and sign up for the election.
Will being in the STEM Club help my transferring process?
The honest answer is… maybe. If you become an active member, make things happen in STEM Club, and bring a positive change to Norco College (and beyond), yes! However, simply being a member of a STEM Club won’t likely help too much on your chances to be accepted to 4-year universities.
My question wasn’t answered. Where can I ask?
You can email your question to hyu6@student.rccd.edu, or you can join our meetings to ask your question, and you should be answered in no time!
